On April 25, 2024, Medicare issued letters to all providers and suppliers who are not receiving Medicare payments via electronic funds transfer (EFT). It's crucial to check your Medicare enrollment status to avoid any disruptions in your billing privileges.
Mandatory EFT Enrollment:
According to 42 CFR 424.510(e)(1) and Pub 100-08, Chapter 10, Section 10.6.10 of the Internet-Only Manuals, all providers and suppliers must receive payments through EFT. To comply with this requirement, ensure you have downloaded and completed the current version of the paper EFT form. Along with the form, you must submit either a voided check or a letter from your bank verifying your account information.
Deadline: July 24, 2024
If you do not submit your EFT form by the deadline, of July 24, 2024, your Medicare billing privileges will be deactivated. Reactivation requires completing a full 855S form and can take 90 days or longer to process, during which time you will not be able to submit claims. This may result in a gap in your ability to bill claims.
